We already observed on this blog that playgrounds aren’t just for kids anymore. What if playgrounds weren’t closed spaces, but part of our streets?
This article from Web Urbanist compiles various cases of slides integrated into architecture or temporarily installed in city streets to experience public space differently. The Giant Water Slide created by Luke Jerram in Bristol is a brilliant example of a temporary urban slide revealing the playful face of public spaces.
Slides can also have a more permanent use. In Utrecht, the Transfer Accelerator slide at the exit of the train station makes your commute way more fun – and faster too.
Wouldn’t it be great if there were more urban slides in our everyday lives? WebUrbanist
